What strain are your Cornish Cross?

At Meyer Hatchery, the Cornish Cross strains we offer are typically the Ross 308 and Cobb 500 strains. These strains are chosen specifically for their high but steady rate of gain. They both have yellow legs and skin. The feathers are typically white, although the Cobb 500 strain may occasionally have black flecks among the white.

While these strains are what Meyer Hatchery typically offers, other strains may be substituted or added to meet consumer demand as needed. Other strains could present with different leg colors, growth rates, varying amounts of black flecks, and other noticeable differences in presentation and/or rate of growth. However, they will all grow to 6-9 lbs in 6-9 weeks under proper growing conditions.
