What Is the ChickQuest Program for Teachers?

ChickQuest is an elementary level classroom curriculum produced and presented by GrowNextGen in partnership with the Ohio Soybean Council and Meyer Hatchery. The curriculum is intended for a third-grade classroom and is available to educators who teach in Ohio.

ChickQuest training events are held approximately 4 times a year at various locations throughout Ohio. It began in 2013 in Columbus, Ohio. To date, over 1500 educators in the state of Ohio have completed the ChickQuest training to learn best practices for incorporating the life cycle study and chick hatching experience in their classrooms.

At the ChickQuest event, teachers receive 7 hours of hands-on instruction involving the curriculum and classroom hatching experience. The curriculum has 18 lessons that relate to the poultry industry, agriculture in general or egg-related activities. At the end of the training day, the teachers go home with over $400 worth of materials at no cost to them. The entire cost of the training events and materials is funded by the Ohio Soybean Council,  OSU Extension, and Meyer Hatchery. 

After attending a ChickQuest training event, each participant receives a Hova-Bator incubator and egg turner package and a certificate for 12 Assorted breed hatching eggs from Meyer Hatchery. They also receive 25 student books, a teaching guide, and various other materials needed to complete the 18-lesson curriculum.
