Recently, USPS has implemented a per-box surcharge for all shipments of perishables. This affects our shipments of chicks, poults, hatching eggs, and other live poultry. This surcharge is on top of existing postage fees and is an additional cost we simply cannot absorb. To account for this change, we’ve increased our shipping prices by $15 across all order sizes.
This surcharge is applied by USPS to ensure the priority handling and specialized care required for safely delivering live poultry. Meyer Hatchery remains committed to providing high-quality service and maintaining the safety and health of all orders during transit.
Key points regarding this update:
- Shipping Cost Adjustment: All shipping levels have been increased by $15 to account for the USPS surcharge.
- Order Size Efficiency: Shipping rates for orders of 15-99 chicks continue to offer the most cost-effective option for customers.
- Available Resources: Customers can find more information about shipping rates and options on the Shipping Info page.
- Orders Already Placed: your shipping rate will not change unless you change your order.
- Order Changes: Order changes (i.e. add/remove breeds, etc) will be subject to the new shipping rates.
This adjustment allows Meyer Hatchery to continue delivering chicks and other poultry with the care and reliability our customers expect. For any questions, please contact our customer service team.
If you have more questions or want to share your concerns about this surcharge, we encourage you to reach out to your state senator or representative in Washington, DC. Find your senator or representative and their contact information, here.
