Your box of chicks is here. Now what? Here are some things to note and look for when unboxing your chicks; your box includes so much more than just your new flock additions!
But first, here are a few videos to help get you started:

When your chicks arrive, the first thing you should pay attention to is any stickers or instructions on the outside or under the lid of the box as important information may be found there. For example, the underside of your lid will list all of your breeds and quantity, as well as any leg bands used for identification on our rare breeds. If you ordered a Vital Pack, there is a sticker on top letting you know. In larger boxes, the Vital Pack will be under the bedding. In smaller boxes, it will be in the specially designed pocket inside the box. Now you can cut the packing straps and unstaple the lid.
Please make a mental note of the heat pack’s temperature (warm/cold) in case you need that information to report any 48-hour chick losses. Also, please make another mental note of the box condition and if there are air holes punched out for ventilation. You can then discard the shipping box and heat pack. If you experience a loss with your order, please reach out to us via phone, chat, email, or fill out our online loss reporting form.
